This call has a nice mellow nasally sound to it and is fairly versatile with volume. It can be nice and soft and quiet with the converter on, or you can pop the converter off and project the call out more. Its very easy to use once you get used to the vibration on your lips. I would recommend this call if you are looking for a “finishing” cow call.

Stopped a bull in his tracks at 200 yards
First off, I cannot figure how to use a Reed call so I bought this call. On a September 2022 Idaho elk hunt, I called in two separate cow elk from about 150 yards using this call making a distressed cow call. Was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had as a hunter, as each cow came within 10 yards of me to “come to the rescue” of the distressed cow.A couple of days later I had already tagged out and was just practicing at this point and had another friend hunting with us. He was quite a ways from me and I wasn’t expecting what happened next. I was on a plateau and saw a nice bull walking away from me. I made a estrus cow call and the the bull stopped in his tracked, looked back my way. I made a shorter estrus call and he turned and started coming my way. I kept making estrus calls and he kept coming. All of a sudden, there was another smaller bull popped up about 40 yards from me, coming to the call. He just stood there looking around for this hot cow. Finally he turned and ran off. My buddy was too far away, so I stopped calling. The bigger bull disappeared in the willows below me and I never saw him again after I stopped calling. I shall that to say this is a very easy-to-use call and very adaptable design allowing to you to make different calls of young and older cows.

If you have lip sensitivity and get tickled easily “I know that sounds funny” this may be a call to avoid. But for the sounds I needed to produce it worked very well. And cant complain.

Great sounding call takes a bit to get good with it , bought the single reed hyper lip after this one and it much easier to master but they are both great

update – I’m a beginner caller
Update – Used it in fall of 2020 in a unit that scarcely has any elk, on public land. On 2 occations, we had 1 bull, cows and calves responding to this call from a great distance. they did not come over, but this is a very spooky, pressured herd. If anything it told us there was a big bull there. Ended up getting this bull by sitting and ambush. For this reason I give the call 5 stars just for fact that this bull bugled back to it.You must practice listening to some real action videos to mimic the correct sound, such as Roe Hunting Resources. I bought I mainly for an assembly mew. Plan on using it for real in 3 weeks. My question is how do I clean it? I would hate to pull the reeds out and assemble them back wrong.

Easy and effective
Great cow call for elk. Very easy to learn to use properly and had great results with it in Colorado. This is the only cow call I carry along with my mouth calls.
